Tell your Chinatown Story

Do you have a Chinatown recollection, memory, or story?  Please share it here!   If it pertains to a specific spot in Chinatown, we might add it to the tour.  After all, the story of Chinatown is the story of the people and places that made it so vibrant.

You can write it in the blog space below or record it and attach the link in the blogspace.

  1. Dear Salinas Chinatown Project,
My father, also named Walter Wong, was born and raised in Monterey, but went back to China until age 16. His father, last name Lum, was a secretary for the Monterey Tong for the Lum clan of Canton. Here is the book this that I will be happy to share with you someday. I look forward to listening to all the oral histories in your project.
